Qigong Beginners Course

There are three sequences of Qigong included in the ten sessions of the course. All are performed slowly and with graceful movements. Breathing is synchronised with the movements. The slower the moves are done the deeper the breathing. The three sequences chosen are to demonstrate the range of Qigong exercises available, all giving the same benefits.

The first sequence to be learnt is the basic 18 move form. Each move is repeated from three to six times, synchronising the breathing with the movement, breathing in as deeply as possible through the nose and completely empty the lungs through the mouth.

There are no complicated moves in Qigong, which makes it easy to learn and as some of the moves are similar to those of Tai Chi it makes it the perfect introduction and natural progression.

The second sequence is called “Da Mo Wai Dan” which involves exercising in the mind. The fists are held in twelve different positions and it is imagined that the fists are clenched and relaxed from three to six times.

The third chosen exercise is called “Wai Dan Moving Form” which uses body movement to exercise while breathing. There are twelve positions in this form.

These three forms are chosen because of their diversity and this will give you the flavour of all the different aspects of Qigong, you will then be able to develop the one which suits you the best.
